Homework Information

We have started our homework schedule!  This will be what is expected for each night of the week.  If you have a busy schedule, please feel free to do any of these assignments on any day of the week but make sure these assignments are turned in on the due date which is the day after they are assigned.  We have not started guided reading yet, but your child will soon be bringing home reading books to read and use towards the reading log due on Fridays.

Monday – Write spelling words in our planners in a box provided for this week.  This box will be found next to the Friday spaces in the planner.
Tuesday – Practice math facts.  I have several math pages that the students can select from before they leave on Tuesdays.  Several students left with a page today so that is their homework.  If your child doesn’t want to do a page, your child may practice facts using flashcards, math games, or go online to work on math websites such as  http://www.aaamath.com/grade3.html.  If your child decides to do anything that is NOT a page, I need a signed note from you as the parent saying how they practiced math.  Your child may write the note, but it needs a parent initial.  I need some sort of proof that math was practiced and please remember to log this practice on the math log in your child’s homework folder!
Wednesday – Practice spelling.  I have several spelling practice pages your child can choose to use.  If you child works best without a page, I accept a signed parent note about how spelling was practiced at home.  http://www.spellingcity.com/ is a website to practice words or you can make your own flashcards with the words.  Some students last year used a piece of paper and wrote the words 3 times.  Any sort of spelling practice that shows practice for that week’s spelling test is acceptable.
Thursday – Math homework online.  I sent home today a log- in page on how to log into the math homework.  Your child will need to log into www.pearsonsuccessnet.com and enter their school user name and password.  On the right side is a “TO DO” button that they click on before seeing their assignment.  Please know that this can be done any time this week but is due Friday!!!!  This homework can be logged into the math log due that week.
Friday – Reading and Math logs are due!  Please log all the reading and math practiced that week and a parent needs to sign that their child completed the minutes.

Students:
Rule #1 - NEVER give your phone number, address, or other personal information to others on the internet.  Always comment using your class #.
Rule #2 - You must use appropriate school language at all times.
Rule #3 - Do your best to use correct spelling and punctuation. We are using this as a published piece of writing and common text abbreviations such as "LOL" should not be used.
Rule #4 - Have fun becoming on-line authors!
